AUCKLAND, Today: Phantom Billstickers kicked off the 2020 festive season – and unveiled significant changes to its team – during a year-end celebration at the QT Hotel in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour on Tuesday evening.
Over 200 guests were on hand to hear about the next stage of development for the pioneers of street media in New Zealand. Newly minted ceo Robin McDonnell introduced new sales & marketing director Rupert Fenton and outlined the company’s plans to stay at the forefront of OOH innovation.
McDonnell said: “Rupert’s appointment will enable Phantom to build even more accountability into campaigns for clients.
“Rupert is a leader in our business, having played a major role in the development of the OOH industry both in New Zealand and the UK.
“He loves creativity and loves exploring the ways we can use data in clever ways to better understand the customer journey.”
“When Jim started sticking up posters 40 years ago, coping with a pandemic was not on anyone’s agenda. But Phantom has always thrived on overcoming challenges.”
Fenton said his role would be to build on the energy and dynamism he sees in the Phantom team, and to help drive new opportunities for clients.
“I believe nothing can touch posters for impact and immediacy,” he said. Having your message in poster frames around the country, where your customers and your competitors’ customers will come across it, is the perfect complement to digital media in 2020.”
Founder Jim Wilson and director Kelly Wilson will have an ongoing role in guiding the business.
Kelly Wilson said that navigating turbulence was nothing new to Phantom: “When Jim started sticking up posters almost 40 years ago, coping with a pandemic was not on anyone’s agenda. But Phantom has always thrived on overcoming challenges.
“From day one, Jim had a vision for filling city streets with creativity and colour.
We’ve overcome the naysayers thanks to the courage, imagination, energy and resilience of everyone who’s worked with Phantom Billstickers over the years. Long may it continue.”
