Samoa Tourism Authority invites ‘The Rock’ and travellers across the globe to visit their island paradise

In anticipation of international boarders reopening, Samoan Tourism Authority’s (STA) new campaign, invites Samoan-American Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson back to his beautiful homeland, while encouraging travellers to also pay Samoa a visit.

Already reaching 120,00 views, the campaign has been a hit around the world, with thousands of fans re-sharing the video, tagging The Rock, his stuntman, and even his mum.

During the 60″ video, friendly locals share their guide to some of Samoa’s best offerings for The Rock, while drinking the celebrity’s Teremana Tequila.

Samoa Tourism Authority CEO Fa’amatuainu Lenatai Suifua says the campaign aims to capture The Rock’s attention and get him excited about returning home, while shining a light on the hospitality of the Samoan people and the island’s unmatched natural beauty.

“It’s been a challenging year for our small island nation, as it has been for all destinations that rely on international tourism, but we remain committed to ensuring the safety of our people as we eagerly await the moment we reopen to international travellers and have the opportunity to welcome Dwayne home.”

Locations pictured throughout the campaign included Samoa’s rainforest at O Le Pupu-Pu’e National Park, the crystal clear swimming holes at the Togitogiga Waterfall, Return to Paradise Resort and Matareva Beach located on the iconic south coast of Upolu, Samoa’s famous fiafias at Taumeasina Island Resort, and the white sands of Vavau Beach.

Alongside the never-ending beauty, Samoa’s 3,000 year old culture, friendly locals, and laid back island vibes are bound to enchant any traveller. And as one of the few countries without a local case of Covid-19, Samoa’s shores are safe and secluded, as well as only a four hour flight from Auckland.

“We look forward to rebuilding the strong cultural connections between Samoa and our overseas neighbours, welcoming international travellers from all corners of the world to our beautiful shores once again.”
