Having worked in the industry together for the last decade, seasoned commercial filmmakers Jess Milne, Tim Parsons and Craig Henderson have now joined forces to launch new production company, Joy Inc.
All three founders developed their craft under the mentorship of Kevin and Nikki Denholm at Exposure International, which has consistently produced ground-breaking humanitarian documentaries worldwide while also creating some of New Zealand’s most-loved commercial campaigns of the last 20 years.
With Exposure’s humanitarian and government work expanding, Joy Inc is branching out as a complementary commercial production company focused on Milne, Parsons and Henderson’s combined experience and passion for filmmaking.
Milne says: “We can’t wait to build on our relationships with agencies and clients around New Zealand.
“We feel hugely privileged to be able to spend our working days (and sometimes our evenings and weekends) telling great stories. Bring on the projects!”
The Freeman’s Bay-based company’s founders pride themselves on providing a collaborative work environment for partners and clients alike.
Henderson says: “We love creating work that’s visually rich, story focused and filled with authentic emotion.
“But it’s also about delivering real results for clients, and that’s something we never take lightly.”
Parsons says the team’s storytelling approach has always been “emphatically human”, and that will continue.
“People are at the very core of why we love the creative industries. Whether it’s six seconds or 60 minutes, we’re into telling great stories through great film craft.”
The team has already got straight to work on a number of diverse projects.
Kevin Denholm says: “I couldn’t be more proud of them.
“Craig, Jess and Tim are all fiercely talented filmmakers. As far as I’m concerned, they’re the absolute A-Team. I can’t wait to see them – and Joy Inc – grow and thrive.”
