MediaWorks’ George FM is celebrating after raising almost $ 80,000 for one of the MediaWorks Foundation’s National Charity Partners, the Child Cancer Foundation.
The George FM Breakfast team’s ‘28 Hour Give Back 2 Back’ effort started on Thursday morning at 6am, with General Lee embarking on a 28-hour marathon DJ set alongside more than 50 guest DJs, which wrapped up at 10am on Friday.
George FM Content Director, Dean Campbell says: “I’m so proud of Lee & Tammy and the whole George FM whānau for this huge effort to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation.
“I’d also like to thank all our listener legends who donated, and all the DJs who joined the George crew on air over the past 28 hours. It was a massive effort, but nothing compared to what the families dealing with cancer go through, so I’m stoked we have been able to play a part in helping them out.”
Ryan Bridge, from the Ryan Bridge Drive Show on Magic Talk, will also raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation in the coming weeks with a 36-hour talkathon taking place from 6am on July 15.
More information on donations can be found here.
The MediaWorks Foundation was launched in 2015 with the purpose of positively changing the lives of children and young people in New Zealand. Other National Charity Partners for 2021 include the Graeme Dingle Foundation and Barnardos New Zealand.
