After only six months, EightyOneX – the sports marketing arm of EightyOne – is kicking goals, having been appointed as the exclusive sponsorship agency for the newest Super Rugby team Moana Pasifika.
The team has been granted an unconditional license to play in the 2022 Super Rugby competition.
EightyOneX Director Megan Compain says: “I am an honest believer that sport has the ability to change lives, and so we set up EightyOneX to do that.
“Moana Pasifika is more than a rugby team, they will be a vehicle to shine the light on an incredibly vibrant community and people, and positively influence the next generation of young Pasifika here and abroad. To have the opportunity to contribute to building a commercially solid base for this team that has such strong purpose and ambition – both on and off the field – is humbling.”
EightyOneX is growing fast, with recent addition Paul Scoringe being welcomed to the team and Penny Hobbs returning from maternity leave in a few weeks.
Compain says: “Paul and I go way back to our adidas days in Germany. He brings a wealth of experience across brand, marketing and commercial rights and I couldn’t be happier to have him in our vaka.
“Hobbs grew up with sport running through her veins and has backed that up with professional experience in the sporting landscape both in NZ and the UK, so we can’t wait to have her back.”
EightyOneX worked closely with the New Zealand Olympic Committee in the build up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, delivering their social and digital look and feel as well as brand communication leading up to and during Games time. Their work could be seen in the Olympic Village by way of motivational posters within the NZ Team base.
