Strategy engages Drive

AUCKLAND, Today: AUNZ brands shop Strategy has connected Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and ACC with fast-growing education platform MyMahi, resulting in a digital partnership they say is improving the way young people learn to drive.  

Earlier this year, Strategy introduced Kiwi-owned learning and pathways hub MyMahi to government website Drive, an online platform that provides free access to NZ Road Code resources and tests.

MyMahi aims to help young people work out who they are and where they could go, particularly focusing on strengths.”

Strategy’s Steve Dimakis (Strategy is Drive’s ad agency) said: “There’s a bright future burgeoning.

“When MyMahi came about, the team had a chat to me and it felt like a great place for Drive to be discovered by the right audience,” he said.


“This is a one-stop-shop for young people to get their driver’s licence – they can directly access Drive through MyMahi’s educational dashboard environment.”


“Working with a platform that makes practical qualifications easier to find for young people was a no-brainer for me.”

MyMahi co-founder Jeff King said: “As well as helping young people with Kiwisaver, mentoring and well-being, goal setting, and pathways to work, we can now support users with the important task of getting their driver’s license.”

“Combining Drive’s resources with MyMahi, which is used by over 240 organisations and schools around Aotearoa, means young people are less likely to experience platform overload.”

Drive’s Simon O’Brien said: “We’re always trying to optimise our programme and make the Drive Road Code and Drive Go mobile phone app more engaging for young people, because obviously technology moves very quickly.”

“Research by Drive shows young people enjoy using platforms that track how they’re progressing towards an ultimate goal, with rewards and recommendations for next steps. MyMahi has followed a similar model since launching in 2018.

“MyMahi has a strong reputation and great relationships with schools and young people,” O’Brien says. “We were really pleased Strategy was able to set up a partnership where we can leverage off that.”
