Joanna Norris has been appointed by Stuff to the newly created executive position of Chief Content Officer.

Norris is currently Chief Executive of regional economic development body ChristchurchNZ, growing the city’s reputation as a vibrant and progressive place to live, work, invest and visit. She is no stranger to Stuff having previously been South Island Editor-in-Chief of Fairfax Media and Editor of The Press.

Prior to that she held various editorial leadership roles across The Press, The Dominion Post and Abu Dhabi Media Company.

Stuff CEO Sinead Boucher says Norris will be responsible for setting Stuff’s content strategy and leading the development of new content products and platforms.

“Joanna is one of the country’s most respected editors and business leaders. Her deep sense of purpose, flair for innovation and commitment to excellence in all that she does will be invaluable to Stuff as we build and expand our future business.”

Norris says the time is right for a return to the media industry.

“I cherish my time at ChristchurchNZ, where I’ve worked with the Board to establish an exciting agency driving the city’s recovery and growth, but the call of the fast-evolving media industry is strong. This role is the perfect opportunity to combine my leadership skills and journalistic experience to help the talented Stuff team achieve its mission to make Aotearoa a better place.”
