WELLINGTON, Today: The Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority has appointed MBM as its media agency after a pitch that began earlier this year. The incumbent was OMD.
MBM will be working on the Gen Less and EECA brands to deliver on their purpose to “mobilise New Zealanders to be world leaders in clean and clever energy use”. The account will be managed out of MBM’s Wellington office, under the stewardship of MBM Wellington general manager Annabelle Wilkinson.
EECA group manager of marketing & communications Jo Bye said: “EECA’s objectives in the pitch process were to secure a strategic, analytically-minded, big-picture partner to support them on their ‘hearts and minds’ roadmap, and in particular to upweight capabilities in digital, social, performance-based marketing specialisms in addition to the traditional and creative media expertise.
“With climate change and energy use at such a critical intersection right now, we need to accelerate the impact our public engagement and behaviour change campaigns generate in market; to pull every lever we have available to us.
“We believe that with MBM, we’ve found a partner that will help us achieve that through their commitment to the cause, their critical thinking and data-based insights and through their creative approach to problem-solving. We are excited to have them on board.”
“MBM’s Wellington team of 24 is expanding off the back of this appointment and is currently recruiting for multiple roles.”
MBM Wellington general manager Annabelle Wilkinson said: “We are passionate about the important role EECA can play in New Zealanders’ lives and so this appointment is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us, both as an agency and as individuals.
“Working alongside our new client and their creative and research partners, we are confident we can build on the work to date, to create even more impact and scale to encourage the team of New Zealand to live more with less energy. There is a big job to do but we are ready for the challenge.
“MBM Wellington has a strong and growing presence in the market. This win follows the appointment of MBM by Meridian at the end of 2020 and an extension of their remit on Sharesies through the launch of Sharesies into the Australian market in July.
“MBM’s current Wellington-based team of 24 is expanding further off the back of this growth and is currently recruiting for multiple roles to help service their growing portfolio.”
