UX / UI Designer – Senior – Auckland / Salary $100- $135k

We are on the hunt for a creative and innovative Senior Designer to bring your broad range of design expertise to this growing Auckland team. We want someone curious and collaborative, who is comfortable investigating and understanding complex scenarios and turning them into seamless user experiences that create lasting impact.

In this role, you will be helping to form high level ideas and design strategies, then translate them into unique design directions, and developing digital solutions that are not only visually beautiful, human, and emotive but also inventive, daring, and brave. You will bring with you a well-rounded toolkit of discovery, research, collaboration and product design methods and workshop activities and know when to pull them out and use them – and you will be adaptable to learning new ones on the job working alongside their strategy and design leads.

You will be able to balance technical and organisational constraints and objectives, with diverse user needs, while applying design patterns, brand guidelines and design thinking across multiple projects. You will do this while working collaboratively with developers and testers to implement and adapt responsive, accessible designs. You will be helping to shape work for your more junior design colleagues, and taking the lead in design conversations with clients, so they are after someone comfortable in taking the reins when needed and helping to keep the design work
on track.

You will be an advocate for the principles of ‘good design,’ illustration and functionality and know how to unravel complexity in order to produce customer experiences that are desirable and easy to use. You will support this with sound, evidence-based rationale and validate the assumptions through research that you are comfortable preparing for and running. They are continuously iterating and improving their ideas and designs as they go.

Requirements

• Four to eight years’ experience doing UX or UI design for complex enterprise applications, large scale websites and/or complex mobile apps
• A pro across multiple industry standard design software and tools 
• Strong understanding of the design patterns required for iOS, Android, and mobile/responsive web delivery
• Ability to understand, utilise and remould complex data
• Experience running workshops with, presenting to, consulting and persuading clients at a Senior level
• Ability to design for user needs by utilising research, strategy, and analytics
• Experience coaching and mentoring younger team members
