CANNES, Today: This year’s Lions Festival programme is built around six priority areas: Sustainability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Data & Technology, Brand Creativity & Effectiveness, Talent, and Business Transformation.
World leaders, activists, creative legends and brand leaders will gather next month (Monday 20 June-Friday 24 June).
“Accelerate progress for girls and young women, and support them to boost economies, create jobs, and drive change.”
Highlights include …
- Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai receives the LionHeart Award. She will deliver an “inspirational” session on her mission to ensure all girls receive 12 years of free, safe, quality education. She is looking to creatives to lend their platforms, expertise and resources to accelerate progress for girls and young women, and support them to boost economies, create jobs, and drive change.
- Chess superstar Garry Kasparov, human rights activist and one of the world’s greatest thinkers, will try convince his audience to overthrow “all tokenistic gestures and take meaningful action”. He will “talk trust” with Edelman PR’s Richard Edelman: “As trust in governments worldwide declines, consumers need brands to assume greater responsibility now.”
- A team from UK creative agency Karmarama will feature in a session about progress with the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals for 2030. You are advised to attend this session “to enhance your understanding of what you can do to make every piece of work you make environmentally green by 2030”.
