AUCKLAND, Thursday: Along with the rest of Aotearoa, M+AD Daily will be celebrating for the first time Matariki – the start of the new year in this part of the world – tomorrow (Friday 24 June).
The Matariki cluster of stars will henceforth be celebrated as an official NZ public holiday.
“The best time to view the cluster is early morning, just before dawn.”
The date marks the reappearance in our skies of the Matariki constellation. The star cluster is well known throughout the world and at different times of the year can be seen around the globe.
The best time to view the cluster is early morning, just before dawn. Before sunrise, look east from the direction of the Southern Cross/Te Punga.
