Havas AUNZ chief steps down

SYDNEY, Monday: After five years as chairman and CEO of Havas Group Australia and New Zealand, Anthony Freedman will be stepping down later this year.

Havas has two businesses in NZ (both acquired over the last five years) – Havas New Zealand which was rebranded after the company acquired Auckland integrated agency Mr Smith in 2017; and optimisation consutancy Catchi/Havas Helia Auckland.

London-based Freedman’s departure concludes his involvement with Host (now Host/Havas) and One Green Bean (AU and EU), which he founded in 2000 and 2007 respectively, and which Havas initially acquired 51% of in 2011.

“Anthony has been key to driving growth in Australia and New Zealand.”

Havas AUNZ will continue to be led by its three ceos – Laura Aldington, Virginia Hyland, and Simone Gupta.

Havas Group’s Paris-based chairman/ceo Yannick said, “Anthony has been key to driving growth in Australia and New Zealand, making it one of our most successful markets in the region.”

There is no plan to replace Freedman, with each ceo instead reporting into their respective global network ceos.
