The Listener hires North & South editor

AUCKLAND, Today: The editor of North & South magazine has left the current affairs title to join rival The New Zealand Listener, according to BusinessDesk media & marketing reporter Daniel Dunkley.

In this morning’s e-edition of the NZME-owned title, Dunkley writes: “Kirsty Cameron has quit her role at North & South after just over a year and will start at The Listener next week, according to media industry sources.

“Editing The Listener is one of the great jobs in NZ journalism, and I’m delighted to be doing it.”

“Cameron will replace Listener editor Karyn Scherer, who recently resigned after roughly two years in the top job.”

Cameron’s departure from North & South comes two months after the title’s German owners, Konstantin Richter and Verena Friederike Hasel, put the magazine up for sale.

“I’m sorry to be leaving after a year, but editing The Listener is one of the great jobs in NZ journalism, and I’m delighted to be doing it,” Cameron is reported as saying.
