Art Director – Junior – Intermediate / Auckland / Salary $65-75k

This is a great opportunity for you to bring your creative smarts to this small central Auckland city integrated agency. You will join this reputable agency as a formidable junior to intermediate level Art Director, in tune with customer needs and ready to produce top work across all channels, specialising in digital/social. This is a part-time contract role initially seeing you work 3 days per week wit the potential to increase hours occasionally and move into a permanent role if it’s a good fit.

Joining other creative teams, you will enjoy lots of mentorship, with a direct report to the ECD – who is hands on and teaches and mentors the teams directly. 

You will have an excellent portfolio of work that shows your integrated experience, proven skills in digital, campaign, experiential and brand. You will be tasked with creating and delivering both first class traditional and digital creative, meeting client briefs and expectation to solve their business problems. 

This role forms part of the Creative Team and reports to the Executive Creative Director. This position requires strong working relationships within the agency, especially with the client service and studio teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate great ideas with a strong focus on digital
  • Work with the Strategy and Technology teams on all agency digital strategy and creative, to help achieve better outcomes for the agency, including website, digital and social campaigns, and interactive experiential projects
  • Champion digital within the creative teams/broader agency and integrate with the team of digital designers and coders
  • Actively get involved in all creative jobs that have a digital element from initial briefing and pro-actively identify where potential digital opportunities exist within client briefs
  • Lead digital thinking and best practice across all clients and appropriate briefs / new business opportunities
  • Help to develop and implement agency processes around the implementation, execution and sign-off of digital work
  • Ably explain and sell industry-leading digital concepts to clients

Skills/Previous Experience:

  • With 1-3 years of experience working in advertising agencies
  • Art Direction – both traditional, digital, and social
  • Broad creative expertise, with an understanding of digital channel planning, social campaigns, and websites
  • A bachelor’s degree, design emphasis preferred

For this role, it is important that you can confidently build strong relationships with both stakeholders and colleagues and can clearly articulate information. You will help to review more junior team members and provide constructive feedback. Your presentation skills are brilliant, and you establish close and honest relationships with others.
