Over 100 people across the Auckland advertising industry joined the first ever UnLtd Open golf competition on November 16 to swing, drive and putt for good.
The inaugural annual event, sponsored by oOh!media and Warner Bros. Discovery, unites the industry to play golf, have fun and raise funds for the work that UnLtd do supporting charities helping young Kiwis at risk.
Held at Wainui Golf Course, the golfers were treated to plenty of surprises along the 18 holes by the hole sponsors, ranging from ice-cream, drinks and music to a WBD putting competition and a chance for a pro-golfer to take your swing at the oOh!media hole, in exchange for a donation.
Nick Vile, GM of oOh!media NZ says: “It was a privilege to sponsor the first ever UnLtd Open and see our industry coming together outdoors for a good cause. Supporting UnLtd and the programs they support targeting young people at risk is something that we’re passionate about and what better way to do it than a round of golf with our industry colleagues, on a great golf course and in gorgeous sunshine!”
The winning team was MediaWorks with Voices of Hope and Pitchblack/Reel Factory taking silver and bronze.
The golfers also heard from one of UnLtd’s charity partners, Voices of Hope, on the important work they do to provide a safe place for young people who may be struggling with their mental health.
Stephen Old, Senior Manager, Digital at Warner Bros. Discovery says: “What a fantastic day! We had so much fun connecting with the industry over a sport that so many of us love and what better way to support UnLtd and their charity partners. Hearing from Voices of Hope about the work they do and the positive impact our industry can have was a highlight and we’re very proud to be a part of it!”
The competition was played in Ambrose style and was open to all levels of golfers with 17 teams across the industry taking part.
Brendan Muller, GM of UnLtd New Zealand says: “Congratulations to MediaWorks for taking home the trophy and a huge thank you to our sponsors oOh! Media and Warner Bros. Discovery and our hole sponsors for making the day possible – and so much fun! Not only was it a great day out, the results are just fantastic and the funds raised will make a big difference to many young Kiwis at risk. Thank you to everyone who came along to swing for good!”
The UnLtd 2024 Event Programme will kick off on 29 February with the annual Big Clash Cricket competition. To find out how your teams can get involved with the various events ranging from cricket, golf, dodgeball and more, get in touch with Brendan (brendan@unltd.org.nz).
