Celebrate Matariki with ANZ’s inspiring art series

AUCKLAND, Yesterday: ANZ is celebrating Matariki with a series of inspiring artworks and videos. This collection includes four videos and three artworks, designed to help Kiwis reflect on Matariki.

In collaboration with the Silver Ferns, Māori artist Geoff Popham, and DRUM, ANZ created these beautiful pieces. The artworks feature Silver Ferns Maia Wilson, Paris Lokotui, and Tiana Metuarau, who shared their thoughts on Matariki with Popham.

“In many ways the designs represent the pepeha of the Silver Ferns.” – Michael Reynolds

Their kōrero was captured by DRUM and inspired Popham to create three artworks, which can be ordered as ANZ Visa Debit My Photo Cards. The series also highlights Kiwi legends Bernice Mene, April Ieremia, and netball-loving tamariki, all sharing ways to engage with Matariki.

Michael Reynolds, Head of Brand and Advertising at ANZ, said, “In many ways the designs represent the pepeha of the Silver Ferns. It is the kōrero that reflects the brightness of Matariki in the Sky, particularly the rays (hihi) of Matariki which stretch far and wide thought to carry messages for the people. They help connect the past, present and future.”

Check out the artworks and videos on the ANZ website, social media, and street posters around Aotearoa.
