Stuff releases ThreeNews ratings after first bulletins

It’s the third day of Stuff’s ThreeNews daily bulletins and the media company is pleased with ratings from the opening weekend.

On Saturday, Stuff aired its first ThreeNews broadcast following the closure of Newshub the day before. Former Newshub journalist Laura Tupou hosted the half-hour show. It featured local and international news items, as well as a couple of longer reports with investigative journalist Paula Penfold and Samantha Hayes, plus sports news and the weather.

Tonight, Hayes will take the reins as newsreader for the first hour-long bulletin.

Meanwhile, Stuff has released the on-air ratings from Saturday. While it competed with the televised Warriors and All Blacks matches that same evening, Stuff is celebrating the 19.3% share in the 25 to 54 demographic. It’s a jump up from the previous 15.7% average the Saturday bulletin held over the past quarter and the 17.3% share it received on the same Saturday last year. The broadcast also drove more Kiwis to Stuff’s website, with traffic up 10% over the weekend compared to the week prior.

Stuff Brand Connections Managing Director Matt Headland calls the launch of ThreeNews the biggest TV event the country has seen so far this year. It was delivered just 12 weeks after Stuff established its partnership with Warner Bros Discovery.

This gives our commercial partners opportunities to deeply connect with Kiwis at scale on air and on site, wherever they are and however they are consuming their news, right across the day.”
