AUCKLAND, Today: Specsavers has appointed EssenceMediacom, part of GroupM, as its media agency in Australia and New Zealand. This decision came after a four-month pitch process that began in April, with various media agencies invited to submit their interest.
Shaun Briggs, Director of Marketing Planning ANZ, expressed appreciation for all participating agencies, noting their contributions and quality work. “We want to acknowledge and thank all the agencies that took part in each stage of the pitch process,” said Briggs.
EssenceMediacom will extend its media services to the Australian market, having worked with Specsavers in New Zealand since 2010. The agency will collaborate closely with Specsavers’ marketing, creative, and PR teams, bringing national needs and local expertise to both markets.

The transition will be completed by March 1, 2025. The account will be managed from EssenceMediacom’s Melbourne and Auckland offices.
EssenceMediacom will take over the Australian account from IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative, which held it since 2016. “I want to thank the Initiative Melbourne team who have delivered great work and a collaborative partnership over the last 8 years,” added Briggs.
