Bringing news to the OOH world: oOh!media and TVNZ’s new partnership

oOh!media New Zealand has announced a new partnership with TVNZ to bring real-time 1News updates to public spaces via its network of digital screens.

Launched last week, the collaboration integrates TVNZ’s 1News content into oOh!media NZ’s network across street and retail locations nationwide, using dentsu’s dynamic platform D4 to deliver the content.

“We’re excited to partner with TVNZ and dentsu to deliver real-time news to Kiwis on the move,”
said Mark Banbrook, National Sales Director at oOh!media NZ.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to providing valuable and engaging content to our audiences. With over 800 digital advertising panels across 180 suburbs we’ve got the coverage to bring local news to local communities no matter how they’re moving”.

The screens will display up-to-date news headlines, with the aim of driving viewers to
1News’ platforms for in-depth coverage.

“We’re thrilled to partner with oOh!media, in collaboration with dentsu, to broaden 1News’
presence from online, social and broadcast platforms into the out-of-home arena,” says Sally Falconer, GM Marketing at TVNZ.

“Leveraging the latest technology to showcase real-time headlines from 1News will allow Kiwis to be informed and access trusted news content in a new, creative way.”

Business Director at dentsu, Sebastian van Dyk, says they’ve used D4’s built-in features headlines to automate headlines from the 1News website and built the capability to localise news regionally where relevant.

“With the national footprint of oOh!’s network, we are able to deliver news relevant to all New Zealanders at scale.”

Over the last two months, similar partnerships to have the news displayed in the out-of-home space have been launched between Stuff and Mediaworks, and Lumo and NZME, with all parties expressing how this allows them to reach more people, but also the new opportunities it brings.
