Sky and Reel Factory debut new set-top box

AUCKLAND, Today: Sky New Zealand is promoting its new Sky Box with a fresh TVC, showcasing access to every app alongside Sky’s full content library. The ad offers an immersive first-person experience, taking viewers through dynamic scenes and locations.

Ant Dureau, Interim Chief Customer Officer, Sky New Zealand, says, “One of our key priorities this year is to supercharge the new Sky experience, which is delivered through the new Sky Box.

The TVC starts with an immersive ‘first person’ view of accessing the peak moments that Sky can offer, such as the excitement of an All Blacks rugby match or the glamour of a premiere.”

“We’ve had a long-standing relationship with Sky New Zealand, and they’re always amazing to work with. Sky allowed us access to film at a live All Blacks game at Eden Park, which was an unreal experience.” – Chris Watkins

He adds, “It then seamlessly segues into the amazing sport and entertainment content on Sky and the immersive and engaging UX of the new Sky Box, demonstrating how easy it is to discover and enjoy this content. I love that the TVC brings together all these components to really show our customers the total proposition of the new Sky experience.”

Directed by James Anderson, the commercial is a technical masterpiece, capturing the sense of control the new Sky Box offers. A POV camera guides viewers through various scenes, highlighting the ease of accessing apps and Sky’s content.

Director James Anderson and Director of Photography Chris Watkins carefully planned each scene to bring this vision to life. They used a custom-built helmet rig, shooting with the latest RED Digital camera and a vintage lens for a cinematic feel.

Watkins wore the 14kg helmet rig for two days of filming, ensuring a true-to-life POV experience. Dan Watkins, Reel Factory Company Director, says, “We’ve had a long-standing relationship with Sky New Zealand, and they’re always amazing to work with. Sky allowed us access to film at a live All Blacks game at Eden Park, which was an unreal experience.”
