Newmarket Business Association entices shoppers with Spring Spree

Newmarket Business Association has launched a new consumer campaign, the Spring Shopping Spree, to support local retailers and reward consumers.

It is giving away five $ 100 vouchers every day in September to shoppers who spend $ 50 or more in Newmarket. Winners can redeem their vouchers at the local store of their choice in the precinct.

The association’s CEO Mark Knoff-Thomas says the campaign is about restoring confidence among retailers and stimulating the local retail environment.

“Retail has faced some of the toughest years in living memory, but we are finally seeing signs of recovery. Our Spring Shopping Spree is about accelerating that momentum, giving people an extra reason to choose Newmarket.”

The initiative comes as many retailers continue to face challenging trading conditions, amid closures and
a general lull in consumer spending in the face of the rising cost of living.

However, with Stats NZ reporting retail spending increasing in the 2025 June quarter, signs of long-awaited recovery are taking shape.

To encourage this positive trend, the Newmarket Business Association’s initiative will inject $ 15,000
directly back into Newmarket businesses.
