Visual content marketplace Getty Images has announced a partnership with NZME to licence images from its flagship publication – The New Zealand Herald.
Featuring more than 10,000 historical photographs spanning the 162-year history of The New Zealand Herald, the premium image collection will be updated daily with the latest visual content.
The collection encompasses both contemporary news coverage and a comprehensive archive of images capturing New Zealand’s history – from pivotal political moments and sporting triumphs to significant historical events.
Contemporary and archival coverage
“This partnership allows us to preserve and share both contemporary and archival coverage of The New Zealand Herald, one of the nation’s most significant photographic records,” says Getty Images senior director for editorial, APAC Cassie Trotter.
“With this expanded offering, Getty Images reaffirms its commitment to elevating New Zealand’s visual heritage on a global stage, ensuring our customers worldwide can access the depth, richness and the historical value this collection represents.”

We’re pleased to have partnered with Getty Images to help ensure these images are preserved, celebrated and accessible worldwide. We have a hugely talented team of journalists and photographers who are producing hundreds of images every week – it’s fantastic to have their talent celebrated on a world stage too.”
