Bastion appointed as KFC NZ’s creative ad agency

Restaurant Brands has appointed Bastion Aotearoa as KFC New Zealand’s creative advertising agency.

Bastion will join Special PR  and PHD Media as the fast food brand’s key agency partners.

“With a big year ahead for the brand, we’re excited to keep building on what KFC does best – big, bold, creative ideas, with our customers front and centre,” says the team at Bastion.

“We also look forward to partnering with the team at Restaurant Brands, bringing the talent and capabilities of Bastion Aotearoa to help deliver the future vision for the KFC business and brand.”

Bastion takes over the KFC account from Stanley St.

KFC has been in the headlines recently with activations including a beach party featuring KFC fish and chips in summer 2025. Thousands of New Zealanders travelled to Auckland from as far as Hamilton to get their hands on KFC’s limited edition Kentucky Fish & Chips, raising $ 40,000 for Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

The idea, which started out as an April Fools joke a couple of years beforehand, and was brought to life as a fundraising pop-up. It was delivered by KFC, Stanley St and Special PR at Mairangi Bay Surf Life Saving Club on Auckland’s North Shore.

It offered fresh tarakihi battered in the Colonel’s 11 secret herbs and spices and paired with KFC’s seasoned chips.

This was followed by ‘Zing Air’ in March 2025. This saw KFC’s first private airline service deliver fans from around New Zealand from their hometown to a Super Rugby match to support their favourite team.
