Lost – and Found

AUCKLAND, Today: Long-established New Zealand roofing company Gerard Roofs is undergoing a brand revival in partnership with Big Communications.

The Gerard system of lightweight, durable and easy-to-install steel roofing was invented in New Zealand in 1957 and is now used in 127 countries around the world, from Argentina to Zambia.

Big MD Ant Salmon said: “Gerard is an incredible global New Zealand success story. Yes, it has a long history, but it is now producing some really contemporary roofing products that would look good on any home.”

Gerard’s sales & marketing manager Dean Vincent said: “As a brand we had lost our way over the last few years.


“We lost our way over the last few years – so we engaged Big for a relaunch.”


“I wanted to work with an agency who would get inside our business and be able to deliver a wide range of work.

“We engaged Big at the end of 2019 with a remit to review our marketing activity and help us relaunch the brand.”

Salmon says it’s been a question of building from the ground up. “We started by looking at how Gerard’s products were being presented at key distribution points, reviewing the sales collateral and designing a new website.

“Now we’re turning our attention to winning back some brand visibility via a significant print campaign in consumer and trade publications.

“There’s more to come, but there’s no rush – we just want to do work that works for the long-term.”
