New Zealand creative studio Not Another has launched an online scam awareness campaign for Facebook.
The Society of Con Artists and Manipulators (SCAM) Gallery has six scams on display in its collection: from the simple fake giveaway to the sophisticated fraudulent investment opportunity. Impersonation scams, romance scams, and eCommerce scams are also on display.
On the campaign website, the gallery curator takes visitors through the gallery and talks them through the exhibits.
The SCAM Gallery is there to help educate New Zealanders about the dangers of scams — which cost Kiwis more than $ 11.6 million last year.
The campaign was devised and produced by Christchurch creative studio Not Another
“Our goal was to translate the very serious message of scam security into an engaging campaign. We knew we had to convey the seriousness of the topic in an easy-to-digest format to get the message across effectively and we’re proud of the result,” says Mark Townshend, co-founder of Not Another.
“Working with Facebook on such a meaningful campaign has been a really rewarding experience. Scams can cause an enormous amount of harm in New Zealand and we really hope this campaign helps Kiwis protect themselves from them,” adds co-founder Adrien Taylor.
Facebook worked with Netsafe to create the SCAM Gallery campaign. Both organisations are committed to protecting Kiwis online.
