In this episode, the ever-quotable Damon Stapleton, Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder of The Monkeys Aotearoa, shares how he got to where he is now, how vulnerability helps creativity, and why he would like to see more excellent work being celebrated by the industry.
After moving around a lot as a child, and “having a deep understanding that I was never going to be an accountant” Stapleton started out as a photographer. Eventually he found his way into the advertising world and has worked in a number of top roles around the world, including TBWA Hunt Lascaris, Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, Chief Creative Officer of DDB New Zealand, and most recently as Regional Chief Creative Officer for DDB (New Zealand and Australia). During this illustrious career he has also picked up many awards at some of the worlds most prestigious advertising festivals.
