Bringing up the front of the team is editor, Rachel Morris, a born Kiwi who most recently comes from the US where she founded and edited US digital magazine HuffPost Highline.

“I was so gutted to hear about the sudden closure of North & South. There isn’t another publication in New Zealand quite like it, with its focus on feature writing and long track record of producing some of our best investigative journalists. So I’m very happy to be returning home and honoured to have the chance to help bring the magazine back to Kiwi readers.”

Imogen Greenfield, will join North & South as the magazine’s art director, while Kelsi Hamilton acts as their new account manager. Lastly, Martine Skinner who was with Bayer when the company closed its door joins as head of marketing.

“North and South is an iconic magazine and it is a privilege to bring the brand back into the hands of our loyal readers and attract a new audience too,” says Skinner.

Konstantin Richer, one of the new owners and publishers alongside Verena Friederike Hasel, says, “As publishers we are deeply committed to the high standards of journalism that North & South has achieved in the past. North & South stands for investigative journalism and excellent long-form writing. We have found just the right people to make sure that the magazine will continue to thrive.”

Hasel adds; “I am delighted with the appointment of these top talents. They have a deep understanding of what North & South is. At the same time, they have lots of fresh and innovative ideas. They are ideally suited to take the magazine forward and deal with the challenges that journalism faces in the 21st Century.”

Although there are no solid dates, the magazine is due to restart publication, “pretty soon”.
