Jumping onboard to celebrate the week of te Reo Māori, MediaWorks’ Three has partnered with Te Māngai Pāho, to rename the platform to Toru from 14 September to 20 September.
Three’s The AM Show, Newshub Live, and The Project will each include incredible initiatives and interviews that focus on the revitalisation of te Reo Māori in New Zealand.
Toru viewers will learn how to incorporate te Reo Māori at home and will see a range of graphics designed to help build a te Reo vocabulary including everyday greetings, nouns and adjectives.
Newshub Live at 6pm will feature three ‘nā te mea he whai tikanga’ – ‘Because It Matters’ stories which will focus on te Reo in music, the role of technology in encouraging people to use the language and analysing whether we are doing Tikanga Māori right.
Toru’s talk show The Project is rebranding to Te Kaupapa, and each evening will include the Korero Mai segment where renowned New Zealanders like Jacinda Ardern, Stan Walker, and Winston Peters will share their favourite phrase in te Reo Māori.
Fronting the Toru campaign are te Reo ambassadors Kanoa Lloyd, Mike McRoberts, Samantha Hayes, Antonia Prebble, Jeremy Corbett, and Guy Williams. There Te Reo journeys can be followed on their personal social media platforms and ThreeNow.
Toru will also be sharing interactive posts across its socials, as well as hosting a series of informative resources for everyone to get involved with.
