AUCKLAND, Today: Australasian print & distribution giant Ovato is to restructure part of its AU print business, making 300 Australian workers redundant, amid plans to try to save another 900 jobs. The NZ end of the business is, apparently, in much better shape – and there’s been no flow-on effect on this side of the Tasman.
Ovato NZ MD Paul Gardiner told M+AD: “This does not impact the New Zealand business as Ovato NZ operates separately under its own cashflows, and is debt-free hence our ability to invest in channel-led initiatives such as Ovato Publishing Services.
“Ovato NZ has print operations in Auckland and Christchurch, and employs a delivery network of 5000 people.”
“OPS includes the Media Sales division now representing 17 magazines in the market. Additionally, OPS has invested in a bespoke magazine subscription service, Ovato Subscription Services.
“In the coming weeks, Ovato will be launching its first to market “In home Media” research programme focusing on the Letterbox Channel.”
