LONDON, Monday: New Zealand led the global field in the first WARC Awards for Effectiveness. NZ won 11 awards; with the UK and US right behind with eight awards each.
The NZ tally included one gold – DDB Aotearoa’s McDonald’s Kiwiburger in the Collaboration & Culture category.
DDB chief strategy officer Rupert Price said: “The Macca’s Kiwiburger is an icon, and the Kiwiburger song is one of a select few pieces of advertising to have become truly engrained in New Zealand culture.

“To be given the task of reinventing that iconic combo for modern audiences is a daunting prospect, so to have it be recognised as one of the most effective cultural collaborations in the world by WARC and Cannes Lions is incredible.
“A huge congratulations to Macca’s New Zealand and the DDB Aotearoa team behind this world-beating work.”
