Sunday magazine has unveiled a design-led refresh and announced a new editor to guide the next era of the publication.
Recently appointed editor Nyree McFarlane says that a larger format, with aspirational design and curated content, is set to elevate the weekend experience.
“Sunday has such an inspiring history. It’s been known to set trends and has evolved with the zeitgeist, offering engaging long-form storytelling alongside glimpses into other people’s lives and homes.
“Features like ‘Shoe of the Week’ have been known to cause stampedes in many a designer’s store and the prospect of featuring in ‘Going Up/Down’ has struck elation and fear in the hearts of many, depending which side of the column you might be on!
“The new Sunday builds on the magazine’s strong heritage and raises the bar with a broader array of content on interesting people and ideas, mouth-watering food, covetable fashion and design, and the latest in wellbeing.”
McFarlane returns to New Zealand following six years abroad in the United Arab Emirates, where she held roles including Head of Digital Content for Motivate Media Group and Head of Arts & Lifestyle for The National. Prior to her move, she was Life & Style Editor at Stuff.
Alongside curating fresh content for Sunday and Your Weekend magazine, McFarlane is set on building an audience both online and in real life.

The first issue of the new look Sunday, featuring Jeremy Wells on the cover, will be revealed in this weekend’s Sunday Star-Times.
