AUCKLAND, Today: Lorde’s Solar Power world tour starts in New Zealand this summer – kickstarted with a street poster campaign in Phantom Billstickers’ frames.
The posters attracted hordes of fans, “borrowing” the images for their collections.
“If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,” said Phantoms’ Rupert Fenton. “People seem to love Lorde’s poster’s so we decided to give our billstickers a break, and give some posters away.
“Over 1,000 people put their hands up.
“This is real-world social media. A cool poster has a physical presence that provokes action – in this case, stealing the poster.”
“Our take? This is real-world social media. A cool poster has a physical presence that provokes action – in this case, stealing the poster.
“While we don’t want to encourage this sort of extreme poster love, we can kinda understand it.
“Digital media and street posters work together so well. One makes a street-level statement while the other ensures that statement goes viral. We’re keen to support this dynamic.
