AUCKLAND, Wednesday: A long lunch with a favourite client is one of the enticements the Comms Council using to remind agencies that entries close for the 2021 Effie Aotearoa Awards in association with TVNZ – next week on Tuesday 17 August, at 4pm.
“Need assistance with the writing?” the council asks readers of it widely distributed sector email. “Want some inspiration from those ‘in the know’ about how to structure, write, or convey your Effie submission?
“Head to the Comms Council website [scroll down for the links] to read past gold papers, the presentation from 2021’s Effie entry-writing workshop, words from the steering committee on this year’s theme, or convener Simon Lendrum’s take on this year’s Effies.
Lendrum said the Effies filled three crucial roles: “We can only take ownership of outstanding results when we can also illuminate the path that led to them. Effie is our best opportunity to do this. Your next Gold Effie starts today.”
The long lunch comp
The Comms Council newsletter again: “Nothing brings you closer than an Effie. It is true. Clients can be manipulated into making scam ads, and agencies can be guilty of making work that takes no risks, and turns no heads. But truly creatively effective work? That’s the mark of a lasting business relationship. That’s an Effie.
“So this year we’re celebrating the relationships that birth Effies. Special relationships like the ones agencies have with their clients. We’re putting the call out for some photos that capture just how close your Effie has brought you both, with your Effie at the centre.
“We imagine these to be shot in the style of classic couples or family photography, or joyful candid moments shared between close friends, all centred around your Effie. Perhaps you’re doing pottery together. Maybe you’re taking your Effie on a picnic or a candle lit dinner for two. New born bay photos holding your Effie together? Get close. Get creative. Get cringe. You’ve earned it.
“The winner will be announced at this year’s Effie Awards in association with TVNZ on Thursday 28 October at Shed10.
“The agency and client with the best ‘couple shot’ will win a long lunch for the client and agency.
