It’s been a rollercoaster year for magazine titles, but the latest Nielsen readership results show that some have thrived in an environment that has readers returning to trusted sources of news, local sources of news, and offline sources of news.
New Zealand Geographic ticks all those boxes, and this quarter has tipped the scales at 390,000 readers, edging Woman’s Day off the podium for third most-read newsstand magazine in New Zealand.
It also has the youngest readership of any magazine in New Zealand, a rough match for the national average but over-indexing among school-leavers, with some 51,000 readers aged 15-19 years of age.
New Zealand Geographic publisher James Frankham says: “It’s a special thrill to appeal to such a young demo.
“New Zealand Geographic has always had a strong presence within schools and as one of those rare titles the whole family can enjoy and it’s nice to see that reflected in the numbers.”
