MediaWorks is pleased to announce Polly Gillespie, Mark Richardson, Wilhelmina Shrimpton and Robett Hollis will join its new talk brand in 2022.
Polly Gillespie has worked in radio for more than 30 years, including as co-host of ZM’s breakfast show for more than two decades. She also recently released the book ‘The Misadventures of Polly Gillespie’.
She says, “I can’t wait to get back into radio! I love speaking with all sorts of other people about their life experiences, thoughts and feelings. My show is going to be quite a bit different from traditional New Zealand radio. Very personal. I am truly looking forward to getting stuck in and connecting with listeners again.”
Mark Richardson will join MediaWorks after five years on The AM Show. He says, “I’m really excited to get behind the mic at MediaWorks on this new station. Nothing beats the fast-paced nature of live radio and I’m proud to be joining the impressive team assembled to date.”
Wilhelmina Shrimpton started her journalism career more than a decade ago at TVNZ, before becoming a radio journalist. She then spent years in the field reporting for Newshub’s 6pm bulletin on Three, and most recently presented the channel’s late news show. She’s also the creator and host of podcast series ‘The Pivot’.
She says, “I’m absolutely thrilled to make a return to radio alongside a hugely talented team, and can’t wait to inject my passion for storytelling into this brilliant new platform.”
Robett Hollis is a multi-exit entrepreneur and ex-professional snowboarder. He was ranked by LinkedIn as one of the Top 3 Most Influential New Zealanders, is a NZ Hi-Tech Awards Judge and was named in Metro Magazine’s Top 10 Innovators of The Year. He says, “I believe New Zealand wins when New Zealanders win so am excited to get behind this new platform to help take on our tall poppy syndrome and have a bunch of fun along the way.”
MediaWorks Director of News & Talk Dallas Gurney says, “I’m thrilled to have Polly, Mark, Wilhelmina and Robett join us as we look to do something a little different with news and talk in 2022.”
More details on the lineup for MediaWorks’ new talk station will be shared in the coming weeks.
