MediaWorks is adding a new station to its radio lineup with the company announcing the acquisition of 106.2 Humm FM.
The bilingual station was first launched in 2011 and broadcasts throughout Auckland offering listeners all the latest Bollywood hits as well as current and classic Indian music.
In 2022, Humm FM will move into MediaWorks’ HQ in Hargreaves Street in Auckland. It will move to 104.2 FM in 2022 as MediaWorks has also recently acquired this frequency.
MediaWorks CEO Cam Wallace says MediaWorks is excited to welcome Humm FM to its family of brands and diversify its offerings for both audiences and advertisers.
“Roshila and Satyan Prasad have created a fantastic brand in Humm FM and we look forward to seeing this continue under MediaWorks.
“Humm FM attracts around 31,800 listeners every week and we see real potential around growing its audience through our digital audio app rova and serving Indian communities across the country.
“This is a great opportunity to reach new audiences and Humm FM offers something unique with 100% of its content focused on the Indian community through their personalities and playing Bollywood’s biggest hits. We look forward to introducing this brand to listeners right across New Zealand in 2022.”
Humm FM Managing Director Roshila Prasad says after more than 10 years of successfully operating Humm FM, it will be exciting to see the company evolve under such a large, reputable radio network.
“We are really proud of Humm FM. The MediaWorks acquisition has not only confirmed the value of our brand and its reach but also the significant contribution it makes to the Indian community. I look forward to working with MediaWorks over the next few months during the transition period and seeing the exciting new journey of the Humm FM audience in Auckland and throughout New Zealand.”
