UNIVERSAL TV was the number one channel on Sky New Zealand (inclusive of sport) during the month of November, this according to Nielsen/Arianna data released last week.
This marks the pinnacle position for the channel which has seen continual growth and success since it launched on Sky in April 2021.
UNIVERSAL TV saw 85 percent growth in the key demographic of 25-54 across July and September, whilst also sharing the number one position with Sky 5 in females 18-49 during peak time. The channel also holds the number two spot (excluding sport channels) for high income households in peak viewing times.
Home to character-driven drama, New Zealand audiences across a wide range of demographics have tuned in to UNIVERSAL TV regularly to watch first-run episodes of renowned Dick Wolf franchises such as Law & Order: SVU, Chicago “1ed and Chicago P.O.
The strong content slate will continue in 2022 with New Zealand premieres of new seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.O. and the much-lauded Law & Order: SVU, now in its 22nd season.
Managing Director of NBCUniversal International Networks & DTC and Distribution, Chris Taylor says: “We are thrilled with the success of UNIVERSAL TV, reaching the number one position on Sky with total people 25-54. The channel’s growth, in only a matter of months, has been tremendous and we are delighted that the incredible calibre of content available on the channel is resonating with New Zealand audiences.”
Sky’s Head of Entertainment Partnerships, Callum Cairney says: “We are so pleased to see our Sky customers embracing all that Universal TV has to offer and are excited to see this loyal audience continue to grow.”
