NEW YORK, Today: D&AD has appointed two leading Kiwi creatives as jury members to preside over the judging of the organisation’s 2022 awards programme.
Run agency co-founder/CCO Raymond Otene McKay will sit on the Digital jury, while Sweetshop NZ executive producer Kate Roydhouse will be part of the Cinematography jury.
Raymond Otene McKay (Ngaati Mahuta, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Pūkeko) said: ““Run focusses on advertising with a more cultural viewpoint and Te Ao Māori lens, a category that has seen global growth particularly over the last couple of years.
“As an indigenous person of Aotearoa, it’s great that Māori are starting to be included in these international juries.”
“Being indigenous to Aotearoa, I am excited to share my unique cultural perspectives with fellow judges and the wider D&AD community.
“It’s great to be included in something as prestigious as the D&AD Awards.
”As an indigenous person of Aotearoa, it’s a step in the right direction that Māori are starting to be included in these international juries. And even better that it’s supporting those underrepresented coming through to the industry too – this is definitely something we need more of.”
Entries are open now, and will close on Wednesday 16 March 2022.
