AUCKLAND, Today: USA/AU/NZ agency Attain has scored a coup, signing storied adman Mike Hutcheson for its global advisory board.
Attain NZ ceo Sharn Piper said: “After seeing Mike speak at the NZME building many years ago, I picked up a copy of his Periodic Table of Innovation. I actually ended up using it as a resource for students to reference when I was lecturing entrepreneurship at AUT.
“From there, I reached out to Mike so we could catch up and start exploring opportunities for us to work together.
“With Mike’s industry experience, he’s someone we can bounce ideas off of and make sure we’re headed in the right direction.”
Previously, Hutcheson was MD at Saatchi NZ, Hutcheson Knowles Marinkovich, and Colenso BBDO.
“As Attain’s strategic advisor, I’ll be supporting the team in identifying that sweet spot.”
He has authored four books and writes an Innovation column in Idealog magazine. He was the 2012 Business Columnist of the Year award, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has a Master of Philosophy degree (with 1st Class Honours).
Hutcheson said: “What will succeed in the future requires some imagination of the future itself.
“The real trick is to interpret good ideas and develop thinking within the business that will enable people to take advantage of what might be in the future. And I believe Attain is the future of agency.”
“When it comes to business, you need to identify what you’re good at, what you’re passionate about, and what the market wants.
“And the secret to success is to find that sweet spot where those three things intersect. As Attain’s strategic advisor, I’ll be supporting the team in identifying that sweet spot.”
