AUCKLAND, Today: MDS AdSchool 2021 grads Jack Close & Zak Hawkins together with Franco Ashton & James Grieg have won D&AD New Blood Awards for their portfolios.
MDS programme director Kate Humphries said: “Following on from the 4 D&AD New Blood Pencil wins that were announced last month, these two portfolio wins bring MDS’s haul from this year’s D&AD New Blood Awards to a grand total of six awards.
“Jack & Zak’s portfolio scored them a job at The Monkeys Auckland; and Franco & James’ work saw them being picked up by Toby Talbot and flown over to Ogilvy Sydney.”
“So, a huge-teary-eyed congratulations from everyone at MDS to both Jack & Zak whose winning portfolio zakjack.com promptly scored them a job at The Monkeys Auckland; and Franco Ashton and James Grieg whose work, jamesfranco.myportfolio.com, saw them being swiftly picked up by Toby Talbot and flown over to Ogilvy Sydney this year.
“A big shout out to their industry mentors Chrissy Cooper & James Conner (from The Monkeys), Michael Swinburn (Colenso BBDO), James Mok (Proximity), and Steve Hansen & JP Twaalfhoven (Clemenger BBDO).
“I know Jack, Zak, James and Franco would all agree that their portfolios wouldn’t have been the same without you.”
