AUCKLAND, Today: Each year TRB’s Outstanding Radio Creative Awards is expanded to a student competition. In 2022, Students from AUT University and Media Design School were given a live brief to create an audio campaign for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Participants were tasked with creating a campaign that either encouraged donations or drove youth audiences to engage with covid-19 wellness tips.
2022 Student Orca judges were Rory McKechnie (DDB), Freddie Coltart (DDB), Matt Williams (DDB), Hadleigh Sinclair (Colenso BBDO) and Hayley Marks (FCB).
“We were incredibly impressed by the calibre of responses to our brief.”
The five finalists are:
AUT University
- Never Have I Ever: Hannah Nguyen and Louis O’Brien
- News Update: Amie Kaufman and Holly Grant
- Let’s FART together: Maclean Winiata and Tegan Cooke
Media Design School
- All You Saw: Harry Pfiszter and Letitia Mackenzie
- Main Character Energy: Kevin Ng
Mental Health Foundation communications & marketing specialist Renee Fox said: “We were incredibly impressed by the calibre of responses to our brief.
“Narrowing down the finalists was no easy feat – all responses were creative; some entertaining, others thought-provoking, and all had such thought and consideration put into them.”
The winning campaign will air across commercial radio stations later in the year. All Orca and Student Orca winners will be announced on Thursday 25 August 25.
