SYDNEY, Today: Special New Zealand’s Christmas commercial for Australian telco Optus has won the Australian TV Ad of the Year at the 2022 Mumbrella Awards.
Special NZ’s YuleGlide was selected after an extensive market research process. It is the first time ever a New Zealand agency has won the category.
Founder/ceo/CCO, Tony Bradbourne said: “The film spread some much-needed optimism through a heart-warming tale of a sugar glider risking his life to prepare (with a little help from a few Optus devices) a surprise gift for his pregnant wife.
“It is part of Special’s on going It starts with yes platform for the loved Australian brand.
“YuleGlide was made in close collaboration our very clever friends at Finch and Flux.”
“Optus are an amazing client to partner with, and we’ve been working on this commercial for over two years now. I want to thank Melisa Hopkins for seeing it’s potential early and backing it for so long.
“It was made in close collaboration our very clever friends at Finch and Flux.”
Special NZ ECD Jonathan McMahon and Lisa Fedyszyn said: “We’re stoked that our little Glider’s story can achieve such a big connection with an Australian audience.”
The film was directed by The Bobbsey Twins from Homicide, through production company Finch & Flux Animation.
