Californian Director Matt Bieler and Brazilian-born Director Tino (Airton Carmiagani) are joining the Flying Fish team for commercial work in the Antipodes.
“We’re pumped to welcome Matt and Tino who are hitting the shores of New Zealand over the next few months for their local directing debuts in Australasia,” says James Moore, Managing Director and Executive Producer.
“These two are here to capitalise on quality creative opportunities, with the priority to make great work and names for themselves in the region.”
Matt Bieler is an instinctive, poetic, cinematic storyteller who has built an accomplished reel producing work globally. From documentaries to commercials, features to short branded content films, Matt has collaborated with clients like Apple, Samsung, Coca-Cola, Bose, Adidas, Heineken and Modelo.
Matt was included in Shoot Magazine’s New Directors Showcase and since has developed a defined authenticity, sonic aesthetic and inherent dynamism and energy to his work. Throughout his career he has worked with A-list celebrities such as Benicio Del Toro, Anderson Paak, Steph Curry, Russell Wilson, Rakim, and Misty Copeland. Touching down in New Zealand last week, Matt will be spreading his creative wings over the next few months as he becomes available for work in New Zealand and Australia.
Airton Carmignani, aka Tino, has made an indelible mark on the world of advertising with his innovative and highly aesthetic films. He began his career as an art director at Saatchi & Saatchi and became a full-time director in 2011. Featuring strong narratives and intricate styling, Tino’s visionary films have earned worldwide recognition at D&AD, British Arrows, One Show, Clio, and Cannes Lions, including a Grand Prix in Film for co-directing Leica 100.
“Tino loves shooting in this part of the world and he’s an absolute pleasure to work with. Meticulous with his execution, Tino is also a super collaborative director, bringing such a wealth of experience with his wide-ranging filmography,” says Samantha Attenborough, Executive Producer.
“We were so lucky to have him here with us in February 2020 to shoot a global campaign for TAG Heuer in Auckland and Queenstown just before the pandemic shut the world down. Now that we are finally open to the world he is here to bring it! Can you tell I’m just a little bit excited…?”
Tino’s recent global campaign for Paco Rabanne is airing in Australia and online in New Zealand featuring Jalen Green from the Houston Rockets. An epic example of fearless creative working with a client directly.
Tino has directed films for Nike, Orange, Tag Heuer, Leica, Coca Cola, Axa, Ford, VW, Jeep, Fiat, HSBC and Netflix to name a few.
