Following a record year for entries, the winners of the 2022 Outstanding Radio Creative Awards (ORCA) and Student ORCA have been announced.
“Congratulations to this year’s ORCA winners. It was a record year for entries and there was a wealth of outstanding campaigns submitted – I’d like to thank our judges who spent so much of their time listening,” says Peter Richardson, The Radio Bureau General Manager.
“Lastly, we’re always blown away by the Student ORCA contenders and this year was no exception. Thanks to AUT University, Media Design School and our partner the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. Until next year!”
The 2022 ORCA judging panel was made up of Kim Pick (VMLY&R New Zealand), Leisa Wall (FCB), Brad Collett (Stanley St), Anne Boothroyd (Dentsu Creative) and David Shirley (Special Group).
Judging was based on meeting four criteria: creativity, execution, effectiveness, and innovation.
The 2022 Student ORCA judging panel was made up of Rory McKechnie (DDB), Freddie Coltart (DDB), Matt Williams (DDB), Hadleigh Sinclair (Colenso BBDO) and Hayley Marks (FCB).
The winners are as follows:
- The Grand ORCA | Standard Campaign:

They have won a $ 5,000 cash prize and a $ 5,000 radio advertising schedule. - The Grand ORCA | Non-Standard Campaign:
New Zealand Police & FCB Aotearoa – Survive The Drive FM
Tim Gavriel and Aaron Carbines
They have won a $ 5,000 cash prize and a $ 5,000 radio advertising schedule. - The People’s Choice Award:
New Zealand Police & FCB Aotearoa – Survive The Drive FM
Tim Gavriel and Aaron Carbines
They have won a $ 2,000 cash prize and a $ 2,000 radio advertising schedule. - The Student ORCA:
AUT University & Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand – Never Have I Ever
Hannah Nguyen and Louis O’Brien
They have won a $ 700 cash prize and a radio advertising schedule.
