AUCKLAND, Thursday: Over 3.6 million New Zealanders are listening to radio every week and almost 3.4 million of those listen to commercial radio stations, according to the latest surveys.
The NZ commercial radio sector released the S4 2022 GfK Radio Audience Data into the market today.
The NZME and MediaWorks networks dominated.
MediaWorks stations Breeze, Rock, More, Sound, Mai and Magic showed good growth, as did NZME’s ever-popular Newstalk ZB, The Hits, and ZM.
“It’s encouraging to see the strength and stability of commercial radio listenership exemplified.”
MediaWorks director of content Leon Wratt said: “We’re rapt to end 2022 on a high with great results across our brands.”
NZME chief radio officer Jason Winstanley said: “NZME is so proud of our broadcast radio network and we continue to deliver exceptional results, delivering on our strategic goals to grow audience market share as part of our 2023 Strategy.”
TRB GM Peter Richardson said: “It’s encouraging to see the strength and stability of commercial radio listenership exemplified in the last survey result for 2022.
“We now have more insight into New Zealanders audio consumption than ever before.”
