UnLtd, the social purpose organisation connecting the New Zealand media, marketing and creative industry with charities helping young people at risk, is launching its first industry event on March 2nd in Auckland.
The UnLtd: Big Clash Aotearoa will see media owners, creatives, tech and media agencies go head-to-head in a limited over tournament to be crowned the cricket champions of the industry.
The event, sponsored by JCDecaux New Zealand, raises funds for UnLtd’s work to support charities helping children and young people at risk.
Mike Watkins, Country Head at JCDecaux New Zealand says as proud sponsors of the Big Clash Aotearoa, he and the team “can’t wait to get together with our industry for such an important cause”.
“Supporting young Kiwis at risk is something we are passionate about and it’s fantastic to be able to make a difference whilst enjoying a great day out with the rest of the industry.”
The event will include plenty of entertainment off the field too with commentary by the Alternative Commentary Collective, special activations by event sponsors and UnLtd charity partner Springboard, as well as DJs and sausage sizzles with spectators across the Auckland advertising industry.
The Team Captains have been announced this week with Alex Barlow from Dentsu Aotearoa leading the Women’s Agency Team, Lisa Ison from MediaWorks the Women’s Media Owners Team, Matt Dickenson from True the Men’s Creative Team, Mike Harrison from OMD the Men’s Agency Team, Scott Hughes from Scroll Media the Men’s Tech Team and Stephen Old from Warner Bros. Discovery the Men’s Media Owners Team.
With less than a month to go, the excitement is building across the industry and the traditional cricket sledging is in full swing with the Media Owner Team Captain Stephen Old pondering: “I wonder what will concern the agency team more. Our bounce rates or our spin?”
Mike Harrison, Team Captain for Agency Team is feeling confident on his team’s ability, stating: “Owners have always been asking for faster briefs, we’ll make the match as brief as possible for them!”
Scott Hughes, Team Captain for Tech Team said: “When was the last time Media or Agency won anything without Tech on their team?”
The event is supported by Commercial Communications Council, IAB NZ, NZME and Reel Factory and the participating companies include: BillieMedia, Comexposium, D3 Digital, Dave Clark, Dentsu, Dovetail Consulting & Coaching, Electric Art Advertising, EssenceMediacom, Google, GroupM, Hearts & Science, JCDecaux, Kargo, Lassoo Media, Lumo Digital Outdoor, Magnite, MediaWorks, Meta, Mindshare, Near, NZME, OMD, Omnicom Media Group, oOh!
