AUCKLAND, Today: Directors Dan Max and Keith Ehrlich have joined Reel Factory’s growing roster. A talented director, photographer and cinematographer, Palmerston North-born Dan ‘Maxy’ Max is most at home in the great outdoors, usually found in the bush or on the beach with his four-legged companion Girl.
Reel Factory company director Dan Watkins said: ‘Passionate about shooting people in the environments they inhabit, searching for and discovering the true, authentic identity of his talent, Maxy’s down-to-earth, approachable nature ensures he gets the most out of his talent.
“Maxy brings a wealth of experience, with commercial campaign credits for Asahi, Jaguar, Air New Zealand, Southern Cross & DB Breweries under his belt.
“Maxy is a triple threat, in being a director, DOP & photographer. We’ve seen an increasing demand of late for directors who also have stills capabilities, which sits right in Maxy’s wheelhouse.”
Dan Max said: “Joining the Reel Factory stable feels like an amazing fit – especially in the type of work we both love producing, getting out into our beautiful country and showcasing Aotearoa to both Kiwis and the world.
“On the technical side, the camera gear Reel Factory has on offer is really exciting for a tech head like me and I can’t wait to get out there and capture amazing shots.”
“The addition of Max & Ehrlich comes at an exciting time of growth for Rosedale-based Reel Factory.”
Watkins: “US-based Keith Ehrlich, also known as Keef, is a graduate of New York’s School of Visual Arts who brings extensive experience in documentary and creating visual tableaus. Best known for his stunning work Made By Hand, a series of short films celebrating craftsmen who make things by hand which was featured at SXSW Film Festival. Keith’s talents have taken him around the world, with commercial credits for Colgate, Jacob’s Creek, Tiffany & Co, Coca-Cola & Carlton Crown Lager.
“Keith is an incredibly talented and versatile director whose work speaks for itself. His ability to create visually stunning and emotionally powerful stories is second to none, and his addition to the Reel Factory team is sure to bring even more creative muscle to our roster of directors.
“We’re always looking for talent and emerging technology to offer our client and agency partners to unlock more creative freedom, and the opportunity to add Maxy & Keith to our director’s roster certainly achieves that.
“The addition of Max & Ehrlich comes at an exciting time of growth for Rosedale-based Reel Factory.
Expansion x 4
“Last month we began construction at our new building on the other side of Rosedale. The new, purpose-built factory will have more edit suites, a studio four-times the size of our current facility.
“Century Film Studios, a dedicated Bolt Motion Control Studio and improved, more collaborative spaces for our growing production teams. Plus a bigger bar.” says Watkins.
