CANNES, Today: Lions juries have awarded two Grand Prix – the first since 2016 – for NZ work this year – Colenso BBDO took out the Radio & Audio Lions GP for Skinny Phone It In campaign, and Special picked up the Health & Wellness Lions GP Partners Life The Last Performance (developed with South Pacific Pictures and Images & Sound).
Colenso also scored one Silver Lion and one Bronze Lion in Outdoor for Skinny Phone It In.
Health and Wellness jury president Mel Routhier (CCO, at VMLY&R Chicago) said: “We talk a lot in our industry about purpose-driven work, and we would actually argue that this piece of work maybe is bringing our industry back to its original purpose …
“… which is about celebrating the purity of a really, simple good idea, well done in a way that makes us all jealous as hell.”

NZ agencies still waiting patiently on shortlists include …
- Colenso has seven finalists on the Radio & Audio Lions – and two more in the Outdoor Lions.
- Motion Sickness made the cut in the Print & Publishing Lions for Fire and Emergency NZ You’re Cooked.
- DDB & Mango Aotearoa scored finalists in the PR Lions
- NZ has secured five finalists at the Media Lions – Special and PHD have two apiece, whilst DDB Aotearoa/OMD has one (for KiwiRail Rail Ritual).
- Ruskin Films secured two finalists for Waka Kotahi Through My Eyes via FCB.
- Colenso made the cut in the Craft Lions.
- Special is through in Health & Wellness Lions.Scoundrel) is there with Kathmandu Summer Never Sleeps (via Special).
- DDB Aotearoa Colenso BBDO made the cut at the Direct Lions. DDB scored three
- Special has three through in the Entertainment Lions shortlist.
- DDB has been shortlisted in Digital Craft for Tourism NZ If You Seek via Run, Sweetshop, Copra Recordings, Franklin Rd Music & Sound, Images & Sound, The Machine Room, Mindshare and Stanley St.
- Colenso made the cut in Brand Experience & Activation Lions for Skinny.
