In a world where nearly everyone is always online, there is no offline.

Motion Sickness offers burner phone to help clients unwind

After a busy year, clients and agencies alike may be overcome with an inability to sit back and put up their feet up at (insert Coromandel town of your choice).

To curb this industry-induced Stockholm Syndrome, creative agency Motion Sickness has come up with an innovative way to make sure their clients are truly committed to putting the tools down: a brick-like burner phone lacking most tools seen on modern phones.

Motion Sickness is promising ‘Optimised Disconnectivity’ with the technologically-limited device from a bygone era.

“This device is mostly useless—on purpose,” the agency tells clients in a note accompanying the unorthodox gift. “Now you will have full access to the offline world without the urge to check your inbox. Frustrating Functionality will make your response time slower than ever, giving you even more excuses to leave someone on read.

“Say goodbye to intrusive notifications and mindless doom-scrolling; this phone has no room for any apps, meaning you’ll have to like your friends’ comments in person.”

The “fully functional brick” is equipped with a preloaded SIM and a 24/7 hotline to Motion Sickness.

Says Sam Stuchbury, ECD, Motion Sickness: “A massive thank you to our clients, and networks of pals, for a great year. We hope you enjoy this Motion Sickness burner phone, but take no responsibility for any illicit activity derived from the device.”

Each Burner Phone also represents a $ 30 donation to Land Search & Rescue New Zealand, just in case users actually get lost this summer.  Those looking for their own burner phone should head to the Motion Sickness Instagram account.
