HMC adds grunt to digital content team

Public relations and communications agency HMC has appointed Anna Clausen and Gabriel Renner as Senior Digital PR Content Creator and Junior Digital PR Content Creator, respectively.

Bringing a diverse range of skills with them, Clauson and Renner work in tandem to produce dynamic content for a range of clients and digital platforms.

HMC managing director Heather Claycomb says the agency’s investment in digital content creation resource demonstrates the importance of visual communication in the public relations industry.

“During our twenty years operating in the PR industry, as we’ve recruited new team members I’ve always looked for people who – among other things – are great writers. And while being successful in PR still requires writing nous, in today’s digital world our team also needs skills that allow us to bring clients’ words, ideas and stories to life in a visual way.

“Over the past few years, our agency has grabbed ahold of this trend firstly by training our core team on the technical side of digital PR. And then we’ve recruited to broaden our team’s overall skills by investing in people who can create video and imagery in-house.

“With the appointment of Anna and Gabriel we are evolving even further in the digital PR space.  Our team now has special skills that allow us to go so far as doing animation, for instance.  In a way we are crossing over a bit into a space that was previously owned by marketing teams and creative agencies.

“The difference is that since at our heart we are a strategic communications agency, HMC tackles communications challenges with a PR rather than a marketing lens. Clients like it, we are getting results, and that is fueling our growth,” says Claycomb.

Clausen comes to HMC from the NZ Marketing team at Gallagher Animal Management where she was responsible for spearheading strategies that bolstered engagement and fostered growth across Gallagher’s digital platforms.

“My passion lies in crafting people-centered storytelling and making that into content which will work across my clients’ social media platforms. I thrive off getting results that make an impact and I’m excited for my future with HMC,” says Clausen.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Art, Renner is well-versed in design software, video editing and continues to develop her skills in animation. She has a keen eye for design and a thoughtful approach to developing creative, visual solutions for clients.

“As a highly creative person, it’s enjoyable to work with a variety of clients. I have so much opportunity to bring that creativity to my clients and their business objectives, using a range of artistic mediums,” says Renner.
